Anjali Anand's recent endeavor, Dabba Cartel, available on Netflix, has garnered exceptional praise from viewers. In a recent interview, she discussed her career journey, sharing insights about her experiences and perspectives within the entertainment sector. Her reflections, which highlight both her humility and ambition, trace her path from television to exciting collaborations with prominent figures in the industry.
Regarding the success of Dabba Cartel, Anjali expressed her astonishment, stating, “It was my dream to have a show on Netflix that becomes number one... now that it’s happening, I can’t believe it.” She conveyed the surreal nature of this achievement, noting that while she always had faith in her abilities, she never anticipated such widespread recognition.
Reflecting on her television roots, Anjali remarked, “You start with TV; not everyone begins there, some have to, while others don’t have a choice... if you’re patient enough to wait for your big break, you can, but TV provides financial stability. For me, television was like a school... honing my craft and exploring my potential.”
She emphasized that her television experience allowed her the freedom to experiment and develop as an actor, teaching her to connect with human emotions and convincingly portray diverse characters. “Television is the greatest asset; it significantly enhances your skills... if you’ve worked in TV, you can adapt to any set, anywhere, and handle any role.”
Anjali also expressed her enthusiasm for her future projects, sharing her excitement about the interest shown by industry leaders in collaborating with her. “It was fascinating to receive a call... Shibani wants to cast you, David Dhawan wants to cast you... It’s intriguing to know that in such circles, your name is being mentioned. People are talking about you...”
She is presently collaborating with Manish Malhotra on a film in which she portrays a minor yet significant character, referring to her role as “the sunshine of the film.” Furthermore, Anjali is enthusiastic about her forthcoming comedy project, where she takes on a leading role. “I continuously explore various opportunities... There isn’t a particular genre that I wish to avoid... I aspire to experience it all.”
