On September 24, a Hindustan Times report mentioned that actress Urmila Matondkar has filed for a divorce from her husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir after 8 years of wedding. The source told the portal that the divorce is not on mutual terms. Back in 2016, the couple's wedding made headlines for not only being inter-faith but also having a 10-year age gap between the duo. Here's a throwback to a time when Urmila defended her husband when he was called a 'terrorist.'
When Urmila Matondkar defended her husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir
In 2020, speaking to Mojo Story, Urmila opened up about the constant troll attacks on her husband, Mohsin Akhtar Ali, and his family.
She said, "He was called a terrorist, a Pakistani. I mean, there is a limit to where it should go… They have even infiltrated my Wikipedia page and they have gone and put my mother’s name as Rukhsana Ahmed and my father’s name as Shivinder Singh, two human beings who must be living somewhere in India but I don’t know of. My father’s name is Shrikant Matondkar and my mother’s name is Sunita Matondkar."
The actress further said that her husband is not only a Muslim but a Kashmiri Muslim. They both follow their religions in an equally staunch way. "That gave them a bigger platform to troll me and constantly target him and his family. It was very unfortunate," she added.
Speaking more about it, the Judaai actress said that she is not thick-skinned but thinks sensitivity is one of the strongest points of a woman. "Being able to have that compassion, that empathy and that sensitivity is what makes me a woman," Urmila added.

Meanwhile, Urmila and Mohsin tied the knot back on February 4, 2016, in an intimate ceremony.
