Singer Pravasthi Aaradhya had accused bias and harassment on the sets of ETV’s popular show Padutha Theeyaga Silver Jubilee Series earlier this week. One of the judges of the show, Sunitha, along with the production company, Gnapika Entertainment, created videos to refute her allegations. Pravasthi, on the other hand, produced another video to highlight discrepancies.

Sunitha, production house respond to Pravasthi

Sunitha responded to Pravasthi’s assertion regarding how she was consistently subjected to criticism from the judge, even when she did well, and stated, “First of all, Pravasthi, similar to many other legends, I have also nurtured you since childhood. You’re 19 now, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to continue that. You used to sing cutely and appear cute. Had you sustained consistency in your singing, I would’ve kept praising you. ”

In addition to expressing her surprise that Pravasthi is airing grievances publicly, Sunitha also conveyed her bewilderment as to why Pravasthi feels she was singled out. “Today, Pravasthi has grown so much that she is going out into the world, sharing her issues with others and discussing us, which brings me sadness. But that’s insignificant to you,” she remarked, adding, “Why would I view you with disdain? Why would it be me, Keeravani, and Chandrabose that specifically target you out of everyone? ”

Sunitha also claimed that there was no bias on the show when it came to song selection, boiling it down to the channel and production not having the rights to a song. “You get upset at everything because that’s your age. I consoled you after the classical round, maybe you forgot that. Some people can control their emotions, and some can’t. I understand because I’m a mother. And another thing, why did I call only you to sing with me if I showed favouritism towards others? You’re talking about body shaming, why would I shoot a video with you then? I even ensured you and your mom reached home safely,” she questioned.

She also called it a ‘revolutionary statement’ when Pravasthi pointed out that MM Keeravaani’s comment on singers performing at weddings was insulting and said, “You made a revolutionary statement about what Keeravaani said about singers performing at weddings. I, too, sing at weddings, as does Anirudh (Ravichander). He just shared his opinion, it’s your insecurity that made you think he was talking about you..” Sunitha also alleged that Pravasthi’s mother had behaved rudely towards her, not the other way around as she claimed.

Praveena Kadiyala of Gnapika Entertainments also posted a video denying Pravasthi’s claims of being forced to wear revealing outfits by posting pictures of the clothes she wore on the show. She reiterated Sunitha’s claim that the only reason a contestant wouldn’t be able to get a song of their choice would be due to rights issues.

Pravasthi Aaradhya points out inconsistencies, stands firm

Pravasthi made a follow-up video addressing the entire situation to counter Sunitha’s assertion and highlight inconsistencies. She begins her video with, “I never requested anyone to pamper me. I only seek the basic respect that every human being, and a singer, should receive. I wish you had conversed with me as kindly as you did in the Reel. ”

She emphasizes that there was prejudice concerning the songs she was permitted to sing, alleging favoritism, “I was prohibited from performing a devotional song for the episode featuring Raghavendra Rao garu, yet another contestant was permitted to. If this is not favoritism, why did you indicate for a contestant to adjust their pitch while singing instead of addressing the issue during judging? You even evaluated a song without listening to it because you had another commitment. Contestants who forgot lyrics remain at the top, just like those who cheated by writing lyrics on their hands. ”

Pravasthi then asserted that it was her mentor, Nihal Konduri, and not Sunitha, who permitted her to sing backup in the music video, adding, “My mother wasn’t even present on the day you’re saying you guaranteed we went home safe. One of your assistants came with me as she remained nearby. The assistant also accompanied me because my mother had already requested her. Regarding the classical round where you state you comforted me, I pleaded with everyone to take it into account due to some technical issue. Only after that did you come up to me. ”

The 19-year-old also criticized Sunitha for her choice of language, saying, “It is not acceptable for you to use the phrase ‘road midaki vachi’ (she came onto the road). I didn’t stage a dharna anywhere, I’m just 19. I didn’t anticipate that from you. Keeravaani garu was belittling singers who perform at weddings; he was not merely expressing an opinion. ” She concluded the video by recognizing that Sunitha was a legend and that she was simply sharing her experience.
