On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput's demise shook the entire nation. His then-partner Rhea Chakraborty was named as the prime suspect and was also taken into custody. In various interviews, Rhea broke the silence on her ordeal in jail and also opened up about her struggle and backlash. Now, in a new development of the SSR death case, the Supreme Court dismissed the CBI plea against Rhea, her father, and her brother.

Supreme Court calls CBI plea against Rhea Chakraborty 'frivolous'

On Friday, (October 25), Supreme Court dismissed a petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), state of Maharashtra and the Bureau of Immigration challenging Bombay high court's quashing of look-out-circulars (LOCs) issued against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and her father Lt Col Indrajit Chakraborty (retd) in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.

“We are warning. You are filing such a frivolous petition, only because one of the accused is a high-profile person...It will be with exemplary cost. Both persons have deep roots in society,” Justice Gavai said when the CBI counsel sought a pass over of the matter as per the report.

“If you want cost and some compliments to CBI, we will pass-over,” Justice Gavai further said.

Notably, in February, the Bombay high court had cancelled the LOC issued by the CBI against Rhea and her two family members in 2020 in connection with Sushant's demise.

Rhea Chakraborty opens up about her time in jail

In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Rhea Chakraborty opened up about her experience in jail. She recalled how she refused to let herself be broken, even as her world crumbled around her.

Recalling constant investigations, media scrutiny and mobs outside her home, Rhea shared, “Don't bend, don't cry, don't break. You have to take a bullet, you have to take it in the a**. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and saying, you're scared, right? It almost felt like the mirror said yes. Investigations every day, there was media and mobs under my building constantly, and it required a lot of strength to even make it to the investigation because I was worried that something would happen on the way."

Meanwhile, Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai on June 14. He was 34 years old at the time of his demise.
