Suriya recalls playing Rolex in Vikram; reveals he was nervous to shoot in Kamal Haasan’s presence

Suriya made one of the bravest choices in his acting career, by playing the role of Rolex, in Vikram. The National Award-winner, who is best known for his righteous hero characters, shocked the audiences with his transformation as the cold-blooded villain in Kamal Haasan and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s 2022-released blockbuster. In a recent chat with The Hollywood Reporter, Suriya extensively spoke about playing Rolex in Vikram, and his shooting experiences.
Suriya about being Rolex in Vikram
Interestingly, the National Award-winning actor revealed that he resumed smoking after a long gap of 20 years, in Vikram. Even though Suriya had earlier decided to not endorse it on the silver screen, he opted to let go of that the idea to play Rolex, which is an out-and-out negative character. Interestingly, the popular star revealed that he just had an idea what the scene was going to be, but there were absolutely no preparations to play the part. Interestingly, Suriya received his dialogues in the morning of the shoot and finished his portions by the afternoon.
Suriya was nervous to shoot in Kamal Haasan’s presence
The Soorarai Pottru actor, who is a die-hard fan of Kamal Haasan, revealed that he was very nervous to shoot in the presence of the leading man. The veteran actor, who also produced the Lokesh Kanagaraj starrer, informed that he is visiting the location on the day which Suriya shot for his portions. So, the actor made sure that he finished his portions in the film before the leading man arrived, as he won’t be able to perform in front of his favourite actor.
For the uninitiated, Suriya appeared as Rolex, the boss of Vijay Sethupathi’s character Sandhanam, and the most powerful drug dealer, in Vikram. The actor’s cameo in the end credits scenes of Kamal Haasan starrer left the fans thrilled. Interestingly, the actor is now set to reprise the character in the upcoming Karthi starrer Kaithi 2, and later in the Rolex standalone film.
