Suriya on shifting base to Mumbai
Suriya said that he did not travel much and lived in Chennai for long. "Jyo had left her home around 17-18 and moved to Chennai, my brother has travelled too. But I am more of a Chennai person. I love Mumbai for the people here, and the food. Diya and Dev have found their tribe here and Jyo was born here. She keeps telling them about her childhood place and she is getting to spend time with her parents here for almost 20 years," he said.
When asked about the love story with Jyothika, Suriya said, “She is a Bandra girl. She was born and brought up here. Her first film in Tamil was with me, and we have done close to 6-7 films together. We were friends and well-wishers and it just happened. We did not propose to each other, but we realised we cannot be without each other.”
Where to watch Suriya and Jyothika’s first film together?
Suriya and Jyothika worked together in famous films Sillunu Oru Kaadhal and Kaakha Kaakha. However, their first collaboration dates back to the 1999 romantic musical comedy film Poovellam Kettuppar, written and directed by Vasanth. The film is available on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium app, to stream.
The film revolves around friends-turned-foes, whose children fall in love without knowing about the enmity between their parents. The rest of the film revolves around how the couple decides to go to the other's family home to convince them about their love.
