Actor Suriya recently advertised his forthcoming movie, Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro, in Thiruvananthapuram. While speaking to his fans, he mentioned that despite his characters smoking in films, he does not support it. He urged them not to adopt the habit simply because he’s smoking in Retro.

Suriya advises fans to steer clear of smoking

At the event, which also featured his co-stars Joju George and Jayaram present, Suriya remarked, “Just a word of caution, I am only smoking for the film. Please don’t start smoking in real life. Once you begin, it’s hard to quit. You might believe one puff is sufficient, but you can’t cease after that. I will definitely not support it, so don't engage in that. ”

He also referred to the people of Thiruvananthapuram as ‘his family’ and expressed, “I bow down to you for standing and watching this event for hours on end. I lack the words in my vocabulary to express my gratitude for the overwhelming love that you have bestowed upon me. Kerala is always God’s own country, where everyone honors all forms of art. ”

All about Retro

In Retro, Suriya portrays Paarivel ‘Paari’ Kannan, a man with a history of violence. While he swears to his girlfriend Rukmini, played by Pooja Hegde, that he will leave his past behind, he finds himself compelled to confront it when it resurfaces.

At the event, Suriya talked about the film: “I am delighted to collaborate with Alphonse Puthren, who created the trailer for this film. Karthik Subbaraj has his unique genre and style; I’ve been eager to work with him for quite some time. This will stand apart from all the films I have done before, so I’m confident you’ll enjoy it. ” He also acknowledged Joju and Jayaram’s contributions to the film.

Produced by Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment alongside Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films, Retro also features Jayaram, Nasser, Prakash Raj, Sujith Shankar, Karunakaran, Tamizh, Prem Kumar, Ramachandran Durairaj, Sandeep Raj, Murugavel, and Remya Suresh, among others. The film is set to hit theaters on May 1.
