It has been 50 days since the release of Haneef Adeni's film Marco, featuring Unni Mukundan. The Malayalam movie, which garnered positive reviews, appears to have attracted the attention of Tamil actor Suriya.

Suriya impressed with Marco

A professional disclosed the information on X (formerly Twitter) by posting images of himself presenting flowers to Unni and Haneef. In his post, he stated, “I am honoured to share that Suriya Sir was profoundly impressed with #Marco! He kindly requested that I convey his regards to #UnniMukundan and Director #HaneefAdeni, which I accomplished today.” He further extended his congratulations to the film's team for their achievement, remarking, “Congratulations to the entire team of Marco for their well-deserved success, which is now being celebrated across India in various languages. #Marco #SuriyaSivakumar Sir #UnniMukundan #haneefadeni #MalayalamCinema.”

About Marco

Marco is regarded as one of the most intense films produced in India. The narrative centres around the eponymous character, a gangster portrayed by Unni, who embarks on a vengeful quest following the murder of his brother. The cast includes Siddique, Jagadish, Abhimanyu Shammi Thilakan, Kabir Duhan Singh, Anson Paul, and Yukti Thareja. This film serves as a spinoff of the 2019 production Mikhael, which starred Nivin Pauly; although the plots are not interconnected, they feature some overlapping characters. After its theatrical release on December 20, which garnered positive reviews, the film is set to be available for streaming on SonyLIV starting February 14. In light of its success, it has also been dubbed into Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada.

Upcoming work

Following his role in Marco, Unni appeared in Mindiyum Paranjum, which premiered this year. He is set to feature in Get-Set Baby shortly. Suriya's most recent appearance was in Kanguva in 2024, a film that garnered mixed reviews. He is scheduled to star in Karthik Subbaraj’s Retro alongside Pooja Hegde, in addition to the untitled Suriya 45 directed by RJ Balaji, where he will be paired with Trisha Krishnan.
