Suriya pays his respects to Bharathiraja after Manoj's passing
On Wednesday, a photographer shared a video of Suriya arriving at Bharathiraja's residence to pay his final respects to Manoj. The actor appeared sorrowful as he placed a garland on Manoj's body. He then sat beside Bharathiraja, took his hand, and provided comfort during this difficult time. The veteran was clearly heartbroken over the loss of his son, and Suriya remained with him for a while to lend his support.

Earlier today, Vijay paid his final tributes to Manoj, with videos and images of his visit circulating on social media. Kamal Haasan expressed his sorrow on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “I was profoundly shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Manoj Bharathiraja, the son of actor and my dear friend, director Bharathiraja. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Bharathiraja, his family, and friends who are mourning the loss of their cherished son.”
Actor Khushbu Sundar referred to Manoj’s passing as an ‘unbearable loss’ on X, commenting, “I am extremely shocked to learn that Manoj is no longer with us. His untimely departure is deeply painful. He was only 48 years old. May God grant strength to his father, Thiru #Bharathiraaja avl, and his family to endure this immense sorrow. You will be missed, Manoj. Rest in peace. Om Shanthi.”
Filmmaker Venkat Prabhu also shared his sorrow, stating, “It is truly shocking to hear this news. I can’t believe you are no longer with us, my brother #manoj, gone too soon… my deepest condolences to Bharathiraja uncle, family, and friends. May your soul rest in peace.”
About Manoj Bharathiraja
Manoj followed in the footsteps of his father, Bharathiraja, as both an actor and director. He made his acting debut in the 1999 film Taj Mahal and appeared in several other films, including Samudhiram, Kadal Pookkal, Eera Nilam, and Viruman. Additionally, Manoj served as an assistant director alongside his father on the unreleased project Final Cut of Director and collaborated with Mani Ratnam on the film Bombay. He also assisted Shankar on the successful movie Enthiran. In 2006, he married his longtime friend, actress Nandana, and they are the proud parents of two daughters, Arthika and Mathivadani.
