Actor Suriya was in Chennai on Friday for the trailer launch of his new movie, Retro. Directed by Kartik Subbaraj, the film features him alongside Pooja Hegde. During the event, Suriya affectionately referred to his wife Jyotika as his ‘kannadi poo,’ which brought smiles to everyone in attendance.

Retro has a track called Kannadi Poove (glass flower). While discussing the film set to release on May 1, Suriya mentioned the song, saying, “The film will have many layers – love, laughter, and conflict, so enjoy it. I appreciate all of you (fans and the audience). I owe my presence here to your support. Your love brought me here. And I must also give a shoutout to my kannadi poo Jo. My journey wouldn’t be as fulfilling without her.”

The fresh trailer for Retro gives us a glimpse into Suriya’s character, who goes through a whirlwind of feelings. He finds himself falling for Pooja’s character and vows to abandon his aggressive lifestyle. However, that’s not as simple as it sounds, especially with numerous foes around, including a villain portrayed by Joju George. He’s shown smashing walls and throwing punches at anyone in his way, drinking, and causing chaos even while behind bars. The trailer also features appearances from Jayaram, Prakash Raj, and Nasser, among others.

Suriya and his wife Jyothika's production companies, 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench Films, teamed up to create Retro. The film's tagline is "Love, Laughter and War." It features music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. There's a lot of buzz around this film, especially since Karthik's previous project, Jigarthanda Double X, starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah, was a huge hit. Meanwhile, Suriya's last movie, Kanguva, didn't quite resonate with audiences, so fans are really hoping this one will deliver.
