Sunny Deol's film Jaat has been performing well at the box office since its release on April 10. After six days, it has garnered Rs. 53.50 crore and is projected to surpass Rs. 100 crore by the following week. However, a report has emerged indicating that the film has encountered criticism from the Christian community, which is calling for a ban and legal action against it. What has led to this response? Read on for more details.
Christian community demands a ban on Jaat
The Christian community is seeking a ban on Jaat due to concerns over a specific scene featuring Randeep Hooda. In this scene, he is depicted standing inside a church, under a cross positioned above the sacred pulpit, while congregation members are engaged in prayer. Additionally, the scene includes portrayals of bullying and intimidation within the church, which the community has deemed deeply offensive.

Members of the Christian community have expressed that this depiction has offended their religious feelings and that the film appears to be an intentional affront to them.
Initially, the Christian community intended to stage protests outside movie theatres; however, these plans were interrupted by law enforcement. The representatives presented a memorandum to the Joint Commissioner requesting a prohibition on the screening of Jaat. They also called for legal measures to be pursued against the film's cast and crew under statutes pertaining to religious disrespect. The community has cautioned that if no action is taken promptly, they will escalate their protests.
