Sunny Deol's highly anticipated film Lahore 1947, was initially scheduled for release on Republic Day this year. However, its launch has been postponed for reasons that remain unclear. The actor has now disclosed that filming is nearly finished, but the release date has not yet been determined due to extensive post-production work being undertaken by producer Aamir Khan.

In an interview with Pinkvilla regarding the film's progress, Sunny stated, "The film is definitely coming. I started it earlier, and a significant portion of the shooting has been completed. I began working on Jaat afterward. However, the process is taking a bit longer because Aamir (Khan) is the producer, and he is meticulous about editing and ensuring everything is perfect."

Lahore 1947 signifies the reunion of the successful actor-director duo from the 1990s, Sunny Deol and Raj Kumar Santoshi. This pair is known for their iconic films, such as Ghatak, Ghayal, and Damini, and Sunny believes that audiences have been eagerly awaiting their collaboration. Discussing Lahore 1947, he remarked, "Lahore is a subject we have been developing for many years. Numerous actors have heard the story, and several were initially set to participate, but it did not materialize. However, Gadar 2 has changed everything."

About Lahore 1947

The movie draws inspiration from Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play, Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni. Taking place during the partition, the narrative follows a Muslim family that relocates from Lucknow to Lahore, where they are assigned a haveli previously occupied by a Hindu family. The plot takes a significant twist when they discover that the Hindu family is still residing in the house and refuses to vacate. In addition to Sunny, Lahore 1947 features notable performances by Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in key roles. The film is expected to premiere in June of this year.
