Sunny Deol Slams Bollywood: ‘Lack of Passion Holding Us Back’
16 days ago | 5 Views
At the launch event for the trailer of Jaat, Sunny Deol expressed that Bollywood producers could benefit from observing their counterparts in Hyderabad. In a subsequent interview with Komal Nahata, he remarked that the Hindi film industry is currently lacking in passion, while South Indian cinema has advanced by drawing inspiration from Bollywood.
Sunny Deol says Bollywood lacks passion
When questioned about whether Bollywood actors should also take cues from South Indian performers, Sunny responded, “The way we used to create cinema in the past, with the passion we infused into it, has started to diminish. The people from the South have learned from us and have progressed significantly in every technical aspect. They produce films for a broad audience rather than a select few. Their cinema consistently resonates with viewers everywhere. I am uncertain why we ceased to do that; I am sure there are numerous reasons.”
He continued, "We began remaking their films, and that became a lucrative venture at the box office. This indicates that our creators, producers, writers, and directors may no longer possess the same level of passion and conviction. Belief is essential—it is the core of the story, and the director is the one who brings it to life. If we have faith in these elements, we should align our work accordingly. However, if we assume we know everything—especially with the abundance of monitors and opinions available—errors are likely to occur."
