Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is preparing for the upcoming release of his historical drama film, Kesari Veer. Directed by Prince Dhiman, the narrative centers on the true story of the courageous warrior Hamirji Gohil, who valiantly opposed the Tughlaq Empire to safeguard the Somnath Temple. In this film, Shetty portrays Vegdaji Bhil, an ally of Hamirji in the defense of the temple. In a recent interview, Suniel discussed the difficulties he faced while embodying his character in this historical piece.

In a conversation with Mid-Day, Suniel Shetty characterized Vegdaji Bhil as a 'larger-than-life' figure. He shared that the role presented significant physical challenges due to the cumbersome costumes, weaponry, rudraksh beads, and dreadlocks.

"The hot climate, along with the leather and metal costumes, and the hair, contributed to the difficulty. I needed to increase my muscle mass and undergo rigorous training, as the weapon itself weighed 15 kilograms. I had to engage in combat wielding a hammer-like axe, which required me to acclimate to its weight and maintain my balance," he explained to the publication.

The actor further emphasized that Kesari Veer embodies themes of 'dharma, seva, and karma,' which are often discussed in society. When asked about his motivation for taking on the project, Suniel revealed, "Producer Kanu Chauhan’s late wife had a longstanding desire to create something related to the Somnath Temple, which has been plundered 14 times for its riches, yet the spirit of the people remains unbroken. The story was so compelling that I felt compelled to participate."

In the meantime, the teaser for Kesari Veer was recently unveiled on YouTube. The film stars Sooraj Pancholi as Hamirji Gohil, with Vivek Oberoi also playing a significant role. The theatrical release is slated for March 14, 2025.
