Actor and entrepreneur Suniel Shetty has embraced the role of grandfather following the birth of his granddaughter, born to his daughter Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul on March 24. Recently, the actor expressed his profound emotions in a heartfelt message about the joy of grandparenthood, emphasizing how the simplest moments in life can illuminate the true essence of happiness.

In a post on LinkedIn, Suniel reflected on the years he dedicated to pursuing acting roles, business opportunities, and accolades, only to discover that the deepest joy often stems from life’s most basic blessings. He remarked, "It’s interesting how life unfolds. You invest years in seeking what you believe will bring you happiness—ideal roles, lucrative deals, a bigger office, increased wealth, a triumphant return, and greater recognition. Yet, what I have come to understand is that genuine joy primarily arises from the simplest of experiences."

Suniel Shetty on becoming a grandfather

The actor shared his thoughts on the emotions associated with entering this new chapter of his life, stating, "Becoming a grandfather recently is an indescribable feeling. It brings a happiness that is pure and unaffected by anything the world can offer or take away. After spending decades building and managing businesses, creating films, and striving to make a meaningful impact, I take pride in those accomplishments. However, when I hold my granddaughter, all of that fades into insignificance. The relentless pursuit of more diminishes when you reach a stage in life where you recognize what is truly important. Witnessing my Amma cradle her great-granddaughter is a moment that has become a cherished memory. The beauty of such experiences is something I will always treasure."

He also reflected on his childhood in Mangalore, recalling the carefree summers spent barefoot, the expansive fields, and the lovingly prepared meals. "The joy stemmed from being with family, enjoying nature, and sharing laughter that cost nothing. Somewhere along the way, I became entangled in the pursuit of more. This is a common experience for many of us," he noted.

While Suniel Shetty emphasized that he remains driven and has further aspirations, his outlook has shifted. The relentless urge to acquire more has been supplanted by a newfound sense of clarity and satisfaction. "With this little one in my arms… I feel a sense of lightness and contentment. It serves as a reminder from life to keep things simple, to appreciate the ordinary, and to liberate myself from the burden of wanting more. For me, that is the true luxury for which I am deeply thankful."

Suniel Shetty’s upcoming films

Suniel was recently observed portraying Khushi Kapoor's father in the Karan Johar-produced film Naadaniyan. His upcoming project is Welcome to the Jungle, directed by Ahmed Khan. This film features a cast that includes Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, Jacqueline Fernandez, among others, and is set to be released later this year. Additionally, he is involved in Priyadarshan's Hera Pheri 3, which is also in development.
