Hrithik Roshan's sister, Sunaina Roshan, in an interview with Siddharth Kanan, opened up about her struggle with alcohol, calling it the worst phase of her life. She revealed that her credit cards were taken away and recalled her time in rehab, where she was grilled by 5-6 counsellors.

Sunaina Roshan's struggle with alcoholism

Reflecting on the difficulties she encountered during her struggle with alcohol addiction, Sunaina remarked, "It was extremely challenging. Alcoholism manifests as a lack of control over one's drinking habits. I was experiencing a particularly tough period in my life, feeling emotionally vulnerable, and I turned to alcohol to numb my feelings. I believe this was the darkest time I have ever faced. I had fallen from beds and sustained injuries. It is a deeply destructive cycle to be trapped in. For several months, I was deprived of any financial resources, my credit cards were confiscated, and I found myself in a very distressing situation."

Sunaina recalls her time in rehab

She also recounted the moment she sat down with her parents to request their assistance in finding a suitable rehabilitation center for her recovery. However, before they could initiate their search, she independently located a facility and enrolled herself. Reflecting on her experience there, she stated, "It’s a 28-day program, and it differs significantly from typical rehabilitation. Essentially, it addresses all forms of addiction. The program lasted 28 days, during which 5-6 counselors intensely interrogated you. It was more challenging than standard rehab. I cannot compare it to what normal rehab entails, but this took place in a single room for 89 hours, where they relentlessly questioned you."

Sunaina further disclosed that during her treatment for alcoholism, she was prohibited from using her phone and was not allowed to have access to other potentially addictive substances, such as sugar and perfumes. She also remembered that after completing her rehabilitation, she received the distressing news of her father's cancer diagnosis, which caused her significant distress one night. In her turmoil, she found herself in a restroom, reaching out to her doctors for assistance.

Sunaina began her career in film production with Krazzy 4 and subsequently produced her brother Hrithik's film Kites, which did not achieve commercial success. Meanwhile, Hrithik is set to appear in Ayan Mukerji’s upcoming film War 2, which also features Kiara Advani and Jr NTR as the antagonist. This film marks the sixth installment in the YRF Spy Universe, with the release date yet to be determined.
