Sunaina Roshan on Her Battle with Alcoholism

In her recent conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Sunaina Roshan discussed her battle with alcoholism, which escalated to a detrimental level, prompting her to pursue sobriety. She reflected on her emotional fragility during that time, characterizing her dependence on alcohol as the most challenging phase of her life. Sunaina recounted instances where she would fall from beds and sustain injuries. Additionally, she disclosed that her family had to confiscate all her credit cards and restrict her access to financial resources during this difficult period.

It was a challenging experience. Alcoholism manifests as a lack of control over one's drinking habits. During that period, I faced significant difficulties and was emotionally fragile, which led me to turn to alcohol as a means of numbing my feelings. I believe that was the most challenging time in my life. I had experienced falls from beds and sustained injuries. It is an extremely destructive cycle to find oneself in. For several months, I was deprived of financial resources, my credit cards were confiscated, and I found myself in a very distressing situation, she recounted.

Sunaina Roshan on Her Rehab Experience

Sunaina elaborated on her time in rehabilitation, characterizing it as a unique facility. She reminisced about the moment she sat her parents down, requesting their assistance in locating a suitable rehabilitation center to aid her recovery and enable her to resume a normal life. However, before her family could identify an appropriate option, she took the proactive step of enrolling herself in a rehab center. This decision led to a challenging 28-day journey that truly tested her resilience.

This program spans 28 days and differs significantly from traditional rehabilitation methods. It addresses various forms of addiction. The structure involved an intensive 28-day regimen where 5 to 6 counselors rigorously challenged participants. According to her, the experience was more demanding than typical rehabilitation. While she is unsure of what a conventional rehab entails, she described the setting as confined to a single room for a total of 89 hours, during which participants faced intense scrutiny. Additionally, she noted that throughout her treatment, she was prohibited from using her phone and was not permitted to have access to addictive substances, including sugar and perfume.
