Television actress Sumbul Touqeer, widely recognized for her role in the series Imlie and her participation in Bigg Boss 16, maintains an active presence on social media. Recently, she has faced criticism from online trolls who have targeted her appearance. In response, she has addressed these comments and explained the circumstances surrounding her weight gain.

Sumbul responds to online criticism

On Tuesday, Sumbul utilized her Instagram platform to confront the trolls who have been body-shaming her. She expressed her frustration, stating, "I have come across numerous comments and tweets from certain Victoria's Secret models regarding my weight and looks, and I can honestly say I have never felt more angered. I am kindly requesting that you cease this behavior and allow me to live my life peacefully. If you believe I am jeopardizing my life, that is my choice. I am aware of my actions, and I am exhausted by this."

She elaborated on the cause of her weight gain, explaining, "P.S. The sudden increase in my weight was due to medication prescribed by a neurologist and a psychiatrist, which was not suitable for me. PLEASE STOP NOW!!!!"

Sumbul commenced her acting journey with supporting roles as a child artist in "Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal" and "Jodha Akbar" in 2014. She made her Bollywood debut with a minor role in Ayushmann Khurrana’s film "Article 15," after which she secured her first leading role in the television series Imlie."  

This show marked a significant milestone in her career, establishing her as a familiar name in households. She portrayed the character of a clever young village girl alongside Gashmeer Mahajani, Fahmaan Khan, and Mayuri Deshmukh, with her pairing with Fahmaan receiving considerable acclaim from fans.  

In 2022, Sumbul took part in Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 16," where she was the highest-paid contestant, ultimately finishing in seventh place. Most recently, she starred in the lead role of "Kavya – Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon" opposite Mishkat Varma, with the show concluding in September 2024.
