Sudha Kongara's Emotional Farewell to Mano Akkineni, Tied to Their Salman Khan Bond

Tamil film producer Mano Akkineni passed away on January 19 in Chennai. Her close friend, director Sudha Kongara, expressed her sorrow over this loss on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), sharing a touching message about how much she misses her. Sudha also posted a nostalgic photograph of the two of them with Salman Khan.

Sudha collaborated with Mano on her debut film, the 2010 production Drohi, featuring Vishnu Vishal and Srikanth. In her tribute, she shared on Instagram and X, an old image capturing their moments as enthusiastic fans of Salman Khan, stating, “My first producer and my best friend. RIP Mano Akkineni. May you shine as brightly among the stars above as you did on this earth.”

She continued, “I will miss you immensely. You have always been the first to view my initial cuts and my primary audience. This film I am currently working on is dedicated to you, Mano, as I know you will be observing my every step as one of cinema's greatest enthusiasts. Two crazy fan girls - 2008, Panvel.” The photograph depicts Mano and Sudha beaming as they pose with Salman in Mumbai.

Throughout her career, Mano made significant contributions to three Tamil films, including Ajith Kumar’s Kireedam, Madhavan’s 13B, and Drohi.

Sudha’s upcoming work

Following the success of the 2020 film Soorarai Pottru, which starred Suriya, Sudha remade the film in Hindi with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Titled Sarfira, the remake was released in 2024 and received a mixed reception. In 2020, she also directed the Ilamai Idho Idho segment for Prime Video’s Putham Pudhu Kaalai and Thangam for Netflix’s Paava Kadhaigal. Her next project will feature Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, alongside Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela in her Tamil debut.
