Stree 2 duo on criticism

Amar Kaushik’s upcoming horror comedy film Stree 2 has been making the rounds on the internet ever since it dropped its intriguing trailer packed with new twists and turns. The makers have created a buzz on social media with new songs and promotional events as the movie gears up for its theatrical release. Recently, Bollywood actors Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor shared gripping insights into their lives with a detailed discussion of how they cope with criticism and insecurities.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Rajkummar Rao shared how he deals with negative comments. The 39-year-old actor explained how some people choose to write a critical review or piece just for the sake of grabbing eyeballs, as it is perceived much better than positivity.

“When you have something negative, especially in this social media age, people read that a lot. People read that way more than something that is positive. I think maybe for that reason some people just want to write negatively all around the year,” Rao told the news portal.

He later added that he avoids reading such negative reviews and instead chooses to be selective about the ones he has faith in that make sense. “As long as it's constructive, it helps me grow, it helps me learn something that maybe otherwise I was not being able to look at,” he further added.

While Rao’s costar Shraddha Kapoor had a slightly different take on tackling criticism. She revealed that audience love is what matters most to her, as they are the important part of films. This ultimately makes them the king and queen.

“It is important to know what criticism to absorb and valid and what’s not,” Shraddha added to her statement.

Dealing with insecurities

Earlier this year, Rajkummar Rao got tangled in a lot of trolling after a viral picture claimed that he underwent a knife for cosmetic surgery to enhance his facial features. Although, he rebuffed the rumours for any recent surgery, fans speculated that he had chin fillers. In the conversation, the Badhaai Do actor shared his insights about insecurities and disclosed that becoming an actor was his childhood dream. He adores playing different characters on the screen that showcase his craft.

“I am not insecure about what people would say, critics would say, if I am earning enough money or not, if I am famous or not. I do it every day because I genuinely love it. As long as that feeling is there, there should not be any insecurity,” Rajkummar Rao said.

Meanwhile, Stree 2 will premiere theatrically on August 15 across the nation. The plot continues to narrate the mystical story about the town of Chanderi and its villagers. However, this time it is a Sarkata Bhoot (headless ghost) that haunts the townspeople.
