Abhishek Banerjee once worked as a casting director in the Hindi film industry. The actor, who is currently riding high on Stree 2's success, recently recalled his old days of being a casting director. Going down memory lane, Abhishek revealed he was thrown out of Dharma Productions' 2012 film Agneepath. It is because producer Karan Johar didn't like the casting he did for the Hrithik Roshan-starrer. The primary reason for his ouster as explained by Banerjee is, "We were casting Anurag Kashyap-type actors."

Abhishek Banerjee recalls being thrown out of Agneepath

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Abhishek Banerjee recalled how his casting process for Agneepath went haywire. He said, "Agneepath se humein nikaal diya tha. Agneepath ki casting hum log kar rahe the baad mein Jogi bhai aaye. Kyu nikal di kyuki woh casting unko pasand nahi aayi, Karan sir ko pasand nahi aayi."

(Loose translation: We were fired from Agneepath. We were casting for the film and it was taken over by Jogi Mallang. Why were we removed? Because Karan sir didn't like our casting)

He further recalled Karan didn't like the process as a lot of 'Anurag Kashyap-type' actors were being cast for the 2012 film. Banerjee revealed Karan said, "Nikal jao humari film se! (Get out of our film)." At that time, Abhishek thought his career was over as he got ousted from a Dharma Productions film. But the actor survived and made a mark for himself in the industry.
