Stree 2, the sequel to the 2018 horror comedy, has been a box office sensation since its release. The film has been consistently outperforming its own records each day and has easily surpassed other recent releases. As of its eighth day, the Shraddha Kapoor-starrer has grossed a staggering Rs. 401 crores worldwide, including Rs. 290.85 crores domestically. After Hrithik Roshan's Fighter, Stree 2 finally beats Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD Hindi collection. However, recently in a conversation with Raj Shamani, Rajkummar Rao has revealed some collections of the original film Stree with Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan's influence in Stree
While excited with the massive success, Rajkummar Rao has recently shared some unbelievable points about the horror sequel, like some Shah Rukh Khan’s crafts that deeply resonated with the audience.
Rao revealed the scene when his character Vicky confronts the ghost, the very scene is memorable for its humour and emotional depth, showcasing his acting skills. The Srikant-actor said that he works with screenwriters very closely and tries to be very particular about his scenes. The climax scene of Stree became a platform for him to channel his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan, the Romance King of Bollywood.
Rao recalled the scene when he was about to look into the eyes of the evil spirit with love, despite being terrified to get killed by the ghost. Shraddha Kapoor's constant ordering him to look at the ghost with love in his eyes, and him trying his best to the same created a humorous tension. Rao stated that he tried to execute Shah Rukh Khan’s signature expression.
While remembering Shraddha Kapoor's dialogue, “Uski aankho mein dekho...aankhon mein...pyar ki bhooki hai wo..pyaar se dekho”, Rajkummar Rao shared that he mimicked the emotional intensity that Khan often brings to his roles.
