In January, renowned filmmaker Sriram Raghavan announced his upcoming war epic, Ikkis. The film chronicles the life of Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of India's highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra. Set against a lavish scale, it promises an emotionally charged coming-of-age story. Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, the film stars Agastya Nanda, known from The Archies, and veteran actor Dharmendra. Raghavan, a respected figure in the film industry, has shared his inspiration for exploring patriotic storytelling, building on the success of his thrilling film Merry Christmas.

Why do a patriotic film, after the success of a thriller film like Merry Christmas?

Sriram Raghavan’s recent theatrical, Merry Christmas, received appreciation from critics globally. This thriller featured Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. After the success of the thriller, Sriram has now decided to venture into a different genre of film – that is action.

Speaking to The Indian Express about Ikkis, the filmmaker said, “It is a story I really connected with and liked. Some parts of it are emotional; it also has battle sequences and action in the typical sense of the word. Hopefully, we have tried and done it differently. It is a war film, and it is a drama. It was a break from the kind of movies I was making, and I wanted that, so that the next time I am doing a thriller, I feel fresh. That there is no baggage.”

What’s special about Ikkis?

Firstly, let us tell you that the film Ikkis will feature Agastya Nanda – grandson of megastar Amitabh Bachchan, in the lead role. Agastya rose to fame after making his debut in the Netflix film, The Archies, in 2023.

Not only this but the film is also expected to feature legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra and reputed actor Jaideep Ahlawat in supporting roles.

Earlier, as per reports, Varun Dhawan was expected to headline the film. However owing to prior commitments, Agastya Nanda was roped in for the project.
