Earlier this week, Sriimurali was in Hyderabad to promote his upcoming release Bagheera, which will be in theatres in Andhra/Telangana with a Telugu version. This is a first for the Roaring Star and he admits to being nervous. Speaking to Radio City Kannada, Sriimurali said that he was tensed about the promotions for the Telugu version, because he was worried about what they’d make of him. Once he began speaking to the media there, he realized that most of them were aware of his work as an actor to some extent.

Happy that people in the Telugu-belt have seen Ugramm: Sriimurali

“I was nervous, but once I realized that they know me and that they’d seen Ugramm, it made me very happy. I guess it helped that I speak a fair bit of the language; my wife speaks Telugu with her family and I have also picked up some bit,” he said. Bagheera is releasing only in Telugu besides the Kannada original. The initial plan was to have Hindi and Tamil versions too, but this Deepavali, there are major film releases in those regions, like Bhool Bhulaiyya 3, Singham Again, Amaran, Brother, among others, so getting theatres there would be a nightmare.

Bagheera is a film that Sriimurali shot for about 120 days over 3 years. A large chunk of the 120 days that they shot the film included night schedules, as Sriimurali plays a masked vigilante. This was also a time when Sriimurali was on a strict diet and physical fitness regime to maintain a certain look in the film. “You’ll see me at my fittest ever in Bagheera,” says the actor, adding that he has no complaints about how much he had to push himself for the film, as the end result looks fantastic.

The actor is clear that he does not want to try and sell his film based on the hardships he’s faced during the making, including a 6 month break when he had an aggravated ACL tear. “I’d rather say that this is a film that I have done with a lot of joy and passion and I would want audiences to see the result,” he says. Bagheera will be in theatres on October 31.
