In light of the ongoing controversy involving actor Kim Soo-hyun, MBC's variety show Good Day has opted to remove his segments from the program. According to a report by Soompi, the production team issued a statement addressing the seriousness of the situation. They confirmed that they had edited out the actor's appearances from the latest episode following the emergence of the controversy. Furthermore, the team assured viewers that they would strive to minimize Soo-hyun's presence in future episodes as much as possible.

The statement expressed a sincere apology for any distress caused to viewers of Good Day. It also clarified the reasons behind the inclusion and subsequent removal of Soo-hyun's footage from the episode.

"The fifth episode, which was broadcast yesterday, underwent urgent editing to eliminate Kim Soo Hyun’s segment from the Good Day General Assembly. This action was taken promptly in response to the controversy, in collaboration with MBC and international OTT platforms, despite the episode having already been submitted and in the translation phase. Consequently, episode 5 was roughly 10 minutes shorter than typical and omitted certain details," a portion of the statement indicated.

How Kim Soo-hyun became part of the show

The team discussed their decision to wait for a statement from the actor's agency prior to their recording session. "The agency notified us that the statement would be made public the week following March 13, and coordinating the cast member's availability after that time would pose challenges. After extensive discussions, we found ourselves compelled to move forward with the recording. The production team executed the recording and sketch filming with meticulous attention, aiming to minimize any overlap with other cast members and considering the potential for editing the footage later. We sincerely apologize for any distress caused to the fans of Good Day during this period," they stated.

Will viewers see more of Soo-hyun on show?

The statement indicated that the ongoing controversy regarding the cast member may adversely affect the mission of Good Day. It further specified that the content for the Good Day General Assembly was recorded on February 18 and will be broadcast over the course of the next six to seven episodes. The production team has opted to minimize Kim Soo Hyun’s appearances as much as feasible. Furthermore, the recording session featuring the cast member on March 13 will not be included in the broadcast.

The actor is presently embroiled in controversy due to allegations regarding a previous relationship with the late Kim Sae-Ron during her minor years. According to another report from Soompi, he has also faced accusations of coercing her to "repay a penalty of 700 million won (around $481,200)."
