Son of Sardaar 2, the highly anticipated action-comedy drama, which is the sequel to the 2012 film, Son of Sardaar, has been mired in uncertainty with multiple casting changes and pending dicisions since its announcement three months ago. Still now, the film has yet to gain significant traction. One of the most notable alterations to the film involves the leading lady. Sonakshi Sinha, who was seen in the first installment, has been replaced by Mrunal Thakur in the sequel.

Sanjay Dutt gets replaced

Adding to the casting turmoil, the makers have now shared another surprising news with Mid-Day. They have decided to exclude Sanjay Dutt from the sequel, who was the main antagonist in the original film. The shooting for the sequel went on floor on July 24 in Scotland, and according to the website, Sanjay Dutt got rejected due to visa in the UK. He has been constantly denied for permission to travel to the UK.

According to Mid-Day, Dutt’s visa has been denied due to his criminal history. Convicted under the Army Act in 1993, for possessing illegal weapons, which was linked to the Mumbai bombing, the 65-year-old actor has served a five-year prison sentence. The Supreme Court upheld his conviction in 2013, and he completed his sentence in 2016.

Who will be seen instead of Sanjay Dutt

In a surprising twist, Mid-Day also revealed that Ravi Kishan has stepped in to fill the void left by Dutt in Son of Sardaar 2. Fresh from his critically acclaimed role as the endearing police officer Shyam Manohar in Laapataa Ladies, Kishan brought his A-game to the Ajay Devgn-starrer sequel.

The 54-year-old actor joined the Son of Sardaar 2 crew on July 25 in the picturesque of Scotland, ready to bring another new character to life.
