Shovan Ganguly and Sohini Sarkar got married at Bawali Royal Palace on July 15. They were married in the presence of close friends and relatives. On Wednesday, they had the boubhat – a traditional bridal ceremony at the groom’s place – at Shovan Ganguly’s house at Belur.
Sohini wore a light-onion-colored katan Banarasi saree and traditional jewelry. She had a golden Dokra necklace and a small bindi on her forehead. She had light makeup. Shovan had a white dhoti-kurta with a multicolored jacket.
The menu was full of traditional Bengali flavors. It had rice, dal, beguni, a traditional spinach stirfry, shorshe ilish, mutton, chutney, papad, and two types of sweet, sandesh and kamala bhog. It was a homely affair in the presence of close relatives.
After the wedding, the Sampurna actress posted a photo in her wedding dress and wrote, “Together in the same room one year after meeting.” They met last year's monsoon at a Tagore Evening hosted by Jisshu Sengupta. The wedding took place within a year. They arranged a pool party with their friends the day before the wedding. They had a registry marriage, followed by the vermillion ceremony and exchange of garlands. There were only a handful of Tollywood celebrities at their wedding.
Sohini previously said that she did not want a gorgeous marriage. Hence she did a homely and minimalistic ceremony.
