Pushpa fame Ajay Ghosh is making his debut as the main lead in a film titled Music Shop Murthy. The film has created a decent buzz with its promos and is all set to release on June 14, 2024. We caught up with director Siva Paladugu for a detailed interview about the film's cast, performances, release date issues, and the basic theme of the film. Here is the transcript.

What made you choose Ajay Ghosh as the hero of Music Shop Murthy

I had seen Ajay Ghosh is many films and was impressed with his acting prowess. I decided that he would play the lead role in Music Shop Murthy. By then, Pushpa was not released, but still, I had faith in Ajay and cast him. Now that Ajay is a rage after Pushpa, it is only helping our film go deep into the audience.

What is the inspiration for casting a 50-plus actor to fulfill his dream of becoming a DJ?

See, if I cast a normal youngster from a small village who wants to become a DJ, things would sound quite routine. That is the reason I penned the story of a man who is fifty-plus, has a family, and comes from a middle-class background. When a person like him wants to become a DJ, the idea itself is quite interesting.

Tell us more about Chandini Chowdary's role in the film.

She plays the role of Anjanna. It is her story, and how it connects to the life of Murthy is the entire story of the film. Chandini is very talented and was a perfect choice to play Anjana. Her scenes with Ajay Ghosh are one of the major highlights of the film. She is the one who motivates him to dream big and achieve his goal.

What was the most difficult part of making this film?

As my friends were the producers, I did not find any issue in making the film. But the post-production, locking a release date, taking the film deep into the audience, and planning promotions was a very tough task. But we have managed to create the right impact and am sure the film will surely reach its target audience.

You are a debut director, tell us about your background

I am from Vijayawada and completed my diploma in direction in the US. Frankly speaking, I did not go through any struggles as I found my producers quite quickly. As everyone was my friend, they believed in my talent and have backed me to date. I had always wanted to make films, and finally, my dream has come true.

Films without big stars are not doing well. How confident are you about this film?

Telugu audiences have matured a lot in the last few years. These days, there is no difference between a big budget and a small film. If the content is strong, the audience throngs the theaters and makes the film a big hit. Music Shop Murthy has strong content, and its word of mouth will bring the audience to the theaters.

What message does Music Shop Murthy convey?

I am not here to convert any message. The film is about a 50-year-old man and how he goes through all odds and achieves his goal finally. There are so many relatable family moments that many will connect to with this film.
