While we are not getting into another big-ticket movie haul starting from October to December across industries, some releases are, of course, bigger than others, and the same goes for India. One of the biggest movies releasing during this period, targeting Diwali—one of the most lucrative release windows—is Singham Again. This is Rohit Shetty’s third film in the Singham trilogy and the Endgame-like saga for the Cop Universe that he has been shaping for a long time. Yesterday, we learned that the filmmaker has cut a very exciting trailer, and it turns out they even have a release date in mind. However, the latest update now says the makers have cracked a deal with PVR Inox to distribute the movie throughout the country, ensuring a massive number of screens.
Singham Again Distribution Update
Singham Again has made headlines once again, and for a very good reason. According to Pinkvilla, Rohit Shetty and Jio Studios have finalized a deal with PVR Inox. "Rohit Shetty and Jio Studios have been contemplating several modes of distribution and have finally roped in PVR Inox Pictures as the all-India distributor. The idea was powered by Jio Studios, as in the clash scenario with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, this would also help them secure 60% of showings in multiplexes across the country," a trade source revealed.
This will also maximize the film’s showcasing potential, which stars an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, and many more big names. "The single-screen owners have already reached out to Rohit Shetty and team for screening Singham Again at their properties, and being an action film in an established universe, this was expected. The Singham Again team is confident in getting better showcasing and capacity at an all-India level based on merits, and their distribution partner has also assured them of muscle power with a massive release in India, irrespective of the clash," the source added.
Rohit Shetty on Making Singham Again
As per Hindustan Times, Rohit Shetty, speaking earlier about being inspired by Salman Khan's Wanted to create the Cop Universe, had said, “Tell you what, I made Singham because of Wanted. That was a phase when multiplexes had come in. It was 2009, I was making All The Best. PVR had just opened up, and at that time, nobody was making mass action films. Wanted was an underdog that came out.”
He added, “I was like, the time has come back to make mass entertainers because even in multiplexes now, people are cheering and whistling. And then, we made Singham in 2011.”
