UMI responds to hate comment over V and Jennie's ‘ship’ account

UMI clarified in a subsequent TikTok video, stating, "To presume that I possess certain knowledge, to suggest that I am seeking attention, or that I am attempting to instigate a situation is merely an assumption. It is a narrative that you are constructing." This response came after she faced numerous allegations of pursuing clout and exacerbating dating rumours involving two idols.

UMI clarified her position, stating that she does not wish to intrude upon any artist's personal affairs and that her video was intended solely to honour the song, not to propagate any misconceptions. She remarked, “Creativity should not revolve around misunderstandings, nor should mutual respect. Any excitement generated from this discussion is not a result of my actions; it stems from the misinterpretations being shared.”

In concluding her video, she expressed, “The essence of music creation and collaboration lies not in fostering drama or division, but in the sharing and appreciation of one another's artistry.”

Why is UMI receiving hate comments?

The controversy emerged following UMI's TikTok video featuring Jennie's rendition of "Love Hangover." While numerous fans lauded her performance and urged her to produce a complete cover, some viewers interpreted the video as a reference to the long-speculated relationship between Jennie and BTS's V—a speculation that garnered considerable attention in 2023.
