Simran was honored with an award at the JFW Movie Awards and gave an impassioned speech. She addressed a recent incident with a female co-star who had been rude to her, sharing, “Not long ago, I texted a co-actor expressing my surprise at her casting in that role. In response, she shot back with a message saying at least she wasn’t stuck playing an aunty. I found that message quite insensitive and honestly unexpected. While it’s her viewpoint, I was hoping for a more thoughtful reply.”

She went on to express her belief that taking on ‘aunty roles’ is preferable to ‘dabba roles.’ “I think it’s better to embrace aunty roles, even the main ones. I’ve played the mother of 25-year-olds in Kannathil Muthamittal, and I’d rather do that than take on meaningless roles. We should all feel empowered to pursue what we want. I’ve worked hard for my success, and I deserve it, whether it’s an aunty role, a mother role, or any other. It’s my decision, and it has brought me respect in the industry.”

Although Simran didn't reveal the name of the actor who texted her, the internet wasted no time trying to figure it out. Some speculated she was referring to Laila, her co-star in the recent film Sabdham. Others believed it might be Trisha, with whom she worked in Good Bad Ugly. There were also theories that the ‘dabba’ remark pointed to Dabba Cartel, suggesting she was talking about Jyotika. One Reddit user chimed in, “Not sure if it’s Trisha or Jyotika, but either way, no one has the right to comment on the true queen Simran.”

An X (formerly Twitter) user shared an old video of Laila, jokingly saying, “The decade-long feud is back on.” Another user speculated, “It was Trisha who said that to Simran... She's such a toxic person.” One commenter added, “Fans are puzzled—was it Jyothika or Laila?
