Sikandar Leak Shocker: Pirated Copies Pulled Down from 600+ Websites
2 days ago | 5 Views
On Sunday, the issue of piracy resurfaced as Salman Khan's highly anticipated Eid film, Sikandar, was leaked online just hours before its theatrical debut. Although the film was scheduled to premiere in cinemas that day, reports indicate that it was made available online late Saturday night, prompting authorities to remove the pirated content from various websites.
Sikandar leaked online
Film trade analyst Komal Nahta expressed his concerns on Twitter Sunday morning, stating, "It’s the worst nightmare for any producer. A film is being leaked before its theatrical release. Unfortunately, that’s what happened last evening to Sajid Nadiadwala’s ‘Sikandar’, which was set to release today in cinemas."
Nahta further noted that the production company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, requested immediate action from the authorities regarding the leak, resulting in the film being taken down from hundreds of sites. "The producer had the authorities remove the film from 600 sites last night, but the damage was already done. The spread of the leak continues and remains ongoing. This condemnable act could have significant financial repercussions for the producer of the Salman starrer," he remarked.
Currently, there is no information regarding the circumstances of the film's leak or its source. Reports indicate that the filmmakers have contacted law enforcement, and an investigation is underway.
About Sikandar
Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss, signifies Salman Khan's return to cinemas for the first time since 2023. The film features prominent roles by Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi. It premiered in theaters on March 30.
Sikandar Advance Booking
Despite being Salman's first Eid release in two years, Sikandar has not set any records in advance ticket sales. The film garnered ₹10 crore in advance bookings for its opening day, surpassing Mohanlal's recent release L2: Empuraan but falling short of Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava. Nevertheless, industry experts anticipate that on-the-spot bookings and the Sunday release could contribute to a strong opening for the film.
