Actor Shubhangi Atre's former spouse, Piyush Poorey, passed away following a struggle with liver cirrhosis. According to a report by the Times of India, he had been in poor health for a period of time. Piyush passed away on Saturday.

According to the report, she expressed, "Your consideration during this period is very significant to me. I kindly ask for some time to discuss this matter."

The couple married in Indore in 2003. Shubhangi and Piyush welcomed a daughter two years later, in 2005. Earlier this year, on February 5, they finalized their divorce.

Shubhangi, Piyush didn't speak with each other post divorce

According to a report from the Times of India, "Shubhangi and Piyush Poorey were not in communication. Nevertheless, she is grieving. She resumed filming for her television series Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai on Sunday." Piyush worked in digital marketing.

Last year, prior to their divorce, a source informed the Hindustan Times, “There was a period when the couple attempted to salvage their relationship and give their marriage another chance. However, that effort was unsuccessful. They have accepted that cohabitation is not feasible, yet they are hesitant to proceed with divorce proceedings.”

The source further stated, “They are currently separated and have moved on with their lives. Regarding legal matters, they are not committed to pursuing them, as they wish to shield their daughter from the complexities of legal issues. They have maintained a cordial relationship for the benefit of their daughter and intend to continue doing so." Ashi is presently studying in the United States.
