Actor Aishwarya Rai's sister-in-law, Shrima Rai, has recently encountered significant criticism on social media, with numerous individuals accusing her of exploiting the actor's fame for her own benefit. In a recent interview, Shrima expressed her distress over being portrayed as a "shady character," a depiction she finds profoundly upsetting.

In a discussion with Mohsinaa Ahmad on her YouTube channel, Shrima recounted how an incident from November was severely misrepresented. Before she could fully grasp the situation, she realized she was being cast as a "new character in this Bollywood narrative that others were fabricating."

Shrima revealed that she felt "immensely hurt" by the disregard for her achievements as a blogger, which she has diligently cultivated over time.

While refraining from mentioning Aishwarya's name, Shrima stressed that she did not wish for her connection to the family to be her primary source of recognition or her "calling card."

She articulated, “I didn’t want that to be my calling card and it’s one thing to have the support of whoever you are related to, that’s something else. But if you are doing it on your own and you own that, it’s very unfair for someone to take that away from you without having an interview. So when I saw the wrong things written about me, I did put out a clarification.”

Shrima conveyed her disappointment regarding the depiction of her as a "shady character," asserting that she was "not okay with that" characterization. She disclosed that despite sharing her perspective, she faced a significant amount of online harassment.

She remarked, “Some trolls began making unnecessary comparisons. It is impossible to equate one woman's journey with another's. No one is denying that the other woman has achieved remarkable things, and she deserves respect for her accomplishments. However, that does not justify disrespecting someone else. Being a fan of one individual does not necessitate being a detractor of another.”

Shrima gets trolled

Last year, Shrima faced criticism from numerous users for not sharing a photograph with the actor, with claims that she had gained fame by leveraging the actor's name. In response, she addressed the issue on Instagram.

In a post titled ‘Facts,’ Shrima stated: "My birthday was November 21, and as is customary, I received flowers. I expressed my gratitude with a shout-out. Prior to my career as a blogger and content creator, I worked in Wealth Management as a banker for several years. I was also crowned Gladrags Mrs. India Globe in 2009. After 2017, I transitioned into blogging. I have NEVER attempted to establish any business using anyone’s name. I am clarifying this because these are facts. I have independently built my career as a content creator over the years, and as a woman, I find it distasteful for anyone to undermine that reality. My husband, mother-in-law, and parents can attest to this. As a mother, it is crucial for me that the facts are clear when my name is involved.” However, she later removed these posts.
