Shraddha Kapoor's latest film, Stree 2 (2024), has emerged as one of the most successful entries in Bollywood's history. Discussions are ongoing regarding the industry's gradual recovery from the pandemic's impact on audiences; the horror-comedy has achieved record-breaking box office earnings of nearly ₹600 crore, establishing it as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever. In this sequel, the actor reprises her role from the original 2018 film, but this time her character reveals her identity as the daughter of a vengeful spirit driven by narrative.
Amar Kaushik's innovative direction
Furthermore, director Amar Kaushik made a distinctive decision to enhance the film's suspense by minimizing her screen presence, despite the significant influence of her character. In a conversation with Nod magazine, Shraddha expressed her willingness to embrace the director's vision, as she consistently does. Who better to seek guidance from than him, given his expertise in the film and its characters?
The actor expressed that it is both an honour and a continuous privilege to work alongside numerous filmmakers and explore a variety of characters; her father, Shakti Kapoor, did not hold casting calls, and she auditioned for every role.
Lessons from her mother
Her mother, Shivangi Kolhapure, imparted some of the most valuable advice she has received. Regardless of how challenging a day may become, her mother reassured Shraddha that everything would ultimately be fine, as difficult days are temporary. She encouraged her to try again, emphasizing that such a day may never recur.
The actor elaborated on her preference for a solitary lifestyle, establishing her own boundaries and principles. She emphasized her disinterest in engaging in any competitive race.
Future projects and Maddock Films’ Horror Comedy Universe
Regarding her forthcoming projects, Shraddha indicated that she is committed for the next five years, as she will be involved in the Maddock Films' Horror Comedy Universe. Her releases for 2025 include Thama, scheduled for Diwali, and Shakti Shalini, which is expected around the new year. In 2026, two significant films will be released: Chamunda in December and Bhediya 2 in August. The year 2027 will see the arrival of Stree 3 and Maha Munjya, while 2028 will introduce Pehla Mahayudh and Doosra Mahayudh.
However, Shraddha has never been the type to do her job and then relax. The actor wants to make significant cinema, eat wonderful cuisine, snuggle with pets, spend time with loved ones, write, read, dance, doodle, and meet a variety of intriguing people; all of these are on her personal wishlist for 2025.
