Shoojit Sircar is widely regarded as one of the most esteemed directors in the film industry, with a dedicated fan base that appreciates his artistic contributions. In a recent interview, Sircar expressed his feelings regarding this setback, stating that he was 'disturbed' by the film's underperformance.

Shoojit Sircar talks about I Want To Talk's box office failure

In a conversation with NDTV, the acclaimed director shared his thoughts on the box office failure of I Want To Talk. He conveyed a sense of confusion, admitting that he felt 'disoriented' by the lack of audience turnout in theaters. However, he noted that since the film's release on OTT platforms, he has received a wave of positive feedback. Sircar remarked, "I aspire to create films as long as I can do so on my own terms and in alignment with my vision. At times, this situation can be unsettling. I was entirely disoriented because I could not comprehend what factors influenced the audience's decision to avoid theaters. Yet, with the film now available on OTT, I am witnessing numerous positive reactions. It is challenging for me to articulate this experience. Nevertheless, the box office results can be quite distressing."

The film achieved a net collection of Rs 1.95 crore in India and a total of Rs 2.3 crore globally.

Shoojit Sircar also spoke about the appreciation he received from Amitabh Bachchan. The director shares a strong rapport with the legendary actor, having collaborated on projects like Piku and Gulabo Sitabo. During the interview, Sircar mentioned that he had a conversation with Bachchan while working on I Want To Talk. He stated, "Indeed, I spoke with Mr. Bachchan. He expressed his admiration for the film and encouraged me, saying, 'Continue to excel in what you do, Shoojit. I am pleased that you were able to create the film in the manner you envisioned.' He also extended his blessings on social media."

I Want To Talk stars Abhishek in the role of Arjun Sen. The narrative centers on his bond with his daughter, which takes a dramatic turn when he receives a terminal diagnosis of advanced laryngeal cancer, with a prognosis of only 100 days to live. The film has recently premiered on OTT and is accessible for viewing on Prime Video.
