In the last two days, Hattrick Hero Shivarajkumar and Real Star Upendra, two of the three key figures in the forthcoming Kannada film 45, embarked on a promotional tour across Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Kochi alongside director and composer-turned filmmaker Arjun Janya and producer Ramesh Reddy, known for Nathicharami and Gaalipata 2. This tour followed the recent release of the film's Kannada teaser, as the team aims to generate excitement for 45, which is set to be released in several languages.
When Shivarajkumar sang Manasamaine varoo
During the final segment of the tour in Kochi, Shivarajkumar, who has gained a new fanbase in the region following his cameo in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, was prompted to sing a song in Malayalam. To the delight of the audience, he obliged. Shivarajkumar revealed that he is an admirer of a classic Malayalam film from the 1960s, which he has watched over 50 times, allowing him to sing a few lines from one of its popular songs with only slight imperfections.
Known for his passion for cinema and his diverse viewing habits, Shivarajkumar shared with attendees that his favorite Malayalam film is the 1966 romantic drama Chemmeen, featuring Sathyan, Sheela, and Madhu. He performed Manasamaine Varoo, originally sung by Manna Dey, and his nearly flawless rendition received much acclaim. Additionally, during the promotional event, he mentioned that he recently enjoyed watching Kunchacko Boban’s Officer on Duty, along with films such as Manjummel Boys and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey.
The film 45 marks Shivarajkumar’s first significant release since Bhairathi Ranagal, the prequel to Mufti, which premiered in November 2024. He had been filming when he received a diagnosis of bladder cancer, necessitating surgery. Prior to traveling to Miami for treatment, Shivarajkumar completed filming, including an intense 10-day action sequence for the climax, all while undergoing chemotherapy.
The team assures that the climax they have crafted will be a delight for viewers. Additionally, the film titled "45" is said to cover a span of 45 days. There is speculation that Upendra portrays Yama, the god of death, while Shivarajkumar takes on the role of Shiva. The central conflict revolves around the effort to save a character played by Raj B Shetty, who has gained popularity among Malayalam audiences through his films "Garuda Gamana Vrishabha Vahana" and "Toby," as well as his direct Malayalam projects, "Turbo," "Kondal," and "Rudhiram."
