Shatrughan Sinha has come to the defence of his daughter, Sonakshi Sinha, following a verbal assault from fellow actor Mukesh Khanna. Shatrughan Sinha slams Mukesh Khanna
In a recent interview, Mukesh Khanna criticized Sonakshi Sinha for her inability to answer a question regarding the Ramayana during her appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati. In response, Sonakshi addressed his comments through an open letter. Following this exchange, Shatrughan Sinha has also expressed his disapproval of Mukesh Khanna's remarks.
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he stated, “It seems that someone has taken issue with Sonakshi's failure to answer a question about the Ramayana. First and foremost, what credentials does this individual possess to be considered an authority on the Ramayana? And who has designated him as the custodian of the Hindu faith?”
The seasoned actor went on to defend his daughter, asserting that not being able to answer a question about the Ramayana does not diminish her status as a good Hindu. He remarked, “I take great pride in all three of my children. Sonakshi achieved stardom through her own efforts; I did not need to launch her career. She is a daughter that any father would be proud to have. Failing to answer a question on the Ramayana does not disqualify Sonakshi from being a good Hindu. She does not require validation from anyone.”
Mukesh Khanna vs Sonakshi Sinha
Mukesh Khanna recently criticized Sonakshi for her incorrect response to a question about Lord Hanuman from the Ramayana during her appearance on KBC, attributing it to her Hindu upbringing. In reaction, Sonakshi penned an open letter addressing him. "I came across your comment suggesting that my father is to blame for my inability to answer a question regarding the Ramayana on a show I participated in years ago. I would like to remind you that there were two other women present that day who also did not know the answer, yet you chose to single me out for reasons that are quite apparent," she stated.
"Indeed, I may have experienced a moment of forgetfulness that day, a common human occurrence, and I may have forgotten for whom the Sanjeevani Booti was brought. However, it seems you have also overlooked some of the teachings of forgiveness and moving on, as exemplified by Lord Rama. If Lord Rama could forgive Manthara, Kaikeyi, and even Ravan after their conflicts, surely you can let go of this minor incident. While I do not seek your forgiveness, I do wish for you to refrain from repeatedly mentioning this event to gain media attention at the expense of myself and my family."
In response, Mukesh Khanna expressed his surprise to News9 regarding the delay in her reply but reaffirmed his previous comments. He remarked, "I aimed to address the current generation, often referred to as 'Gen-Z' by older individuals, who seem to rely heavily on the digital world and mobile devices. Their understanding appears to be confined to Wikipedia and social media interactions. In this context, I had a prime example in her case that could serve as a lesson for others—fathers, sons, and daughters alike."
On the professional front, Sonakshi is set to appear in "Nikita Roy and The Book of Darkness."
