Actor Sharvari expresses her enthusiasm about joining the YRF Spy Universe in its first female-led film alongside Alia Bhatt. She acknowledges that this role has proven to be one of the most demanding of her career thus far and is confident that the film will break several barriers, offering a new viewpoint within the spy genre.

In an open discussion with Hindustan Times, Sharvari shares her thoughts on collaborating with Alia Bhatt in the YRF Spy Universe. She conveys her eagerness to be part of this pioneering project and the associated challenges.

Inside Sharvari’s YRF spy universe debut

In this film, both Alia and Sharvari will portray super-agents, with Shiv Rawail at the helm as director.

“Alpha is an incredibly thrilling project set to release this Christmas. I am eagerly anticipating the film's debut in theaters, particularly because it marks the first spy universe film led by two women,” states Sharvari, who has also become the ambassador for the premium cat food brand SHEBA.

“It genuinely represents the first action film centered on women. I believe it will break many glass ceilings. Therefore, I am both excited and slightly anxious about the film. I am keeping my fingers crossed,” she adds, having recently attended a brand event in Delhi.

The YRF Spy Universe commenced in 2012 with the film Ek Tha Tiger, featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, followed by its sequel Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017. This was succeeded by War, starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in 2018, and Pathaan, which featured Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in 2023. The same year also saw the release of Tiger 3. The upcoming film featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari will be the next installment in the YRF Spy Universe.

A challenging task

Sharvari encountered significant challenges with the YRF Spy Universe project, primarily due to the action genre, which was unfamiliar territory for her. While she had previously engaged in survival-action with Vedaa, the sleek and stylish action featured in this film marked a notable shift from her earlier experiences.

“What posed a challenge for me was the film's genre, which is action. This is a type of film I have not explored before. Although I participated in Vedaa, which had a similar theme, it leaned more towards survival action. Alpha, on the other hand, presents a much more refined and stylish approach to action,” she explains, adding, “It was distinctly different from my previous work. The most demanding aspect was undoubtedly this.”

The mounting pressure

Sharvari's career took a significant turn last year with the remarkable success of Aditya Sarpotdar's horror comedy Munjya, followed by her role in the web film Maharaj. She also appeared in Vedaa alongside John Abraham.

Reflecting on the transformations following her recent achievements, Sharvari expresses that they have instilled a sense of gratitude and responsibility within her. She states, “I have always set a very high standard for myself. I am continuously striving to meet and exceed that standard.”

“I am genuinely thankful for the past year and this one. I have encountered and connected with numerous individuals who have appreciated my work. This entire year has been filled with gratitude. I believe it also brings a significant responsibility, as there are now true fans who support me. I hope that whenever I appear on screen, I can impress them and maintain their interest,” she concludes.
