About Puratwan

Directed by Suman Ghosh, Puratwan has garnered the Best Feature Film award at the Indian Film Festival of Houston and previously won accolades for Best Film and Best Actress (Sharmila Tagore) at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival. In a recent interview with PTI, Sharmila disclosed that, due to health concerns, Puratwan will mark her last Bengali film. She expressed, “I have a deep affection for Bengali films and everything related to Kolkata, but my health conditions do not allow me to be as fit for acting in shoots as needed.” She also mentioned that she enjoyed her time filming with the crew for 14–15 days at a resort along the banks of the Ganga.
