Pandey rose to prominence in 2017 with her performance in the contentious film Arjun Reddy, where she starred alongside Vijay Deverakonda. During a subsequent interview, she was inquired about the possibility of reprising her role in the directorial debut of Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in which she portrays a formidable female character. At that time, she expressed strong conviction about her decision. However, upon reflection, Pandey may have reconsidered her stance. She believes the character required authenticity, which contributed to the film's success. While she would still accept the role, she might approach her collaboration with the director differently.

For those unfamiliar, Vijay Deverakonda portrays Arjun Reddy, a surgeon and class valedictorian. His love interest, Preethi (played by Shalini Pandey), is a Tulu girl who is four years younger than him. Their relationship faces challenges due to a series of unfortunate events. The narrative unfolds as they navigate the complexities of life.
