Actor Shalini Pandey has expressed her frustration regarding the frequent comparisons made between her and Bollywood superstar Alia Bhatt. Shalini rose to fame after portraying Vijay Deverakonda's love interest in the acclaimed Telugu film Arjun Reddy. She also garnered attention for her role in Junaid Khan's Bollywood debut, Maharaj, last year. While her charming looks and performances have led to these comparisons with Alia, Shalini remains unconvinced by them.

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, Shalini, who recently appeared in the Netflix series Dabba Cartel, conveyed her appreciation for the admiration she receives but emphasized her aspiration to be recognized for her own unique identity.

Alia is unique! We do not require another Alia, nor should anyone attempt to be like her, as Alia is truly remarkable. This admiration extends beyond her film roles; while she embodies the character we see on screen, my appreciation for her also stems from her off-screen persona. Personally, I hold a deep admiration for Alia, the actor expressed.

The 31-year-old actress emphasized her desire to maintain her individuality and hopes that audiences will not confine her to a specific mold.

“I strive to be distinct because there is only one Alia. While there are many admirable traits to emulate, I also wish to cultivate my own identity. I want people to recognize me for who Shalini is, rather than categorize me in a way that does not resonate with me. I am not comfortable with that. However, when comparisons are made with affection, it is indeed a flattering comparison, as she is truly wonderful,” Shalini remarked.

About Shalini's upcoming projects

Shalini's upcoming project is Idly Kadai, directed by the renowned South Indian actor Dhanush. The film features Dhanush alongside Nithya Menen and has experienced delays due to outstanding filming requirements. The release date has not yet been revealed.
