Shakira, who has recently commenced her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour, was admitted to the hospital due to an abdominal complication, which necessitated the postponement of her concert in Peru. The 48-year-old artist announced this development on social media, indicating that she required emergency medical attention on Saturday night and is currently receiving ongoing medical care.

Shakira hospitalised for abdominal pain

In a recent communication on X, the Colombian artist conveyed her disappointment regarding the cancellation of her performance. "I regret to inform everyone that I had to visit the emergency room last night due to an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized," she stated. Medical professionals have advised her against performing, indicating that her health does not permit her to take the stage.

Shakira expressed that the postponement has left her feeling profoundly saddened, as she had eagerly anticipated entertaining her fans in Peru. She reassured them that her team, along with the concert promoters, is actively working to establish a new date for the event. "I love you all, and I appreciate your understanding," she added.

Despite this unfortunate situation, the Hips Don’t Lie singer remains hopeful about her return to the stage in the near future. She expressed optimism that she would be discharged by Monday and ready to resume her tour. If her recovery proceeds as expected, she is slated to perform in Peru that same evening before traveling to Colombia for a series of concerts.

Shakira’s tour and recent controversy

Shakira commenced her tour on February 11 in Rio de Janeiro, shortly after being awarded a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album. The South American segment of her tour will continue until March 8, after which she will proceed to Mexico. This tour has ignited discussions online, with some fans alleging that she has drawn inspiration from Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour. Observations regarding similarities in metallic stage designs and prominent silver lettering have fueled these comparisons.

Nevertheless, in spite of the ongoing debate, Shakira enjoys substantial backing from her global fanbase. Although her hospitalization has momentarily postponed her performance in Peru, Shakira remains dedicated to her recovery and the continuation of her tour.
