Shahid Kapoor got married to Mira Rajput on July 7, 2015. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Delhi. Later, they hosted a grand reception in Mumbai. Mira was only 20 when she exchanged wedding vows with Shahid. Recently, on The Faye D'Souza Show, the Bollywood actor recalled the time he got married to Mira. Kapoor revealed why thought he would have to protect his better half.

Shahid Kapoor recalls the time he got married to Mira Rajput

Shahid Kapoor felt he would have to protect his wife Mira Rajput because she was a young girl coming from Delhi. On the other hand, there was a world of movies and glamour.

"When we got married, I thought that I would have to protect her because she is this 20-year-old girl who's just coming from Delhi. And this is a big bad world of movies and glamour and everybody is so judgy. She's a strong person and she is solid. She comes from a very strong family and is very self-assured and extremely intelligent. She is very stubborn and you should be stubborn because that's how you protect yourself," said Shahid.

That was then! Today, Shahid feels Mira is more protective of him. Wondering why? It's because the actor believes his better half is much more of a 'social creature' than him. "She has recognized that he (Shahid) is an actor but I am more socially comfortable. She got more comfortable in the parties that I had been attending for years... even before I got comfortable in there. I was like she's already more comfortable than I was," he added.

Shahid and Mira's married life

Shahid and Mira have been happily married for nine years. The Bollywood couple was blessed with their first child, daughter Misha in August 2016. They welcomed their second child, son Zain, in September 2018.

On the work front, Shahid was last seen in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. He will next be seen in Deva. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 31, 2025.
