Shah Rukh Khan Calls His Upcoming Film 'King' a 'Bit of a Show-Off' Amid Title Shortage

After a four-year hiatus, Shah Rukh Khan made a triumphant return to the big screen in 2023, quickly reclaiming his place at the top of the box office. With three successful films that year, fans became eager for what he would offer next. However, Shah Rukh chose to take another 'gap year' in 2024, with no releases planned. The actor will next be seen in King, a film that reunites him with Pathaan director Siddharth Anand. At a recent event, Shah Rukh, often referred to as King Khan, shared his thoughts on the film's playful title.

Shah Rukh Khan attended an event at the Global Village in Dubai, UAE, on Sunday, where he performed to some of his most iconic songs and interacted with the audience. During the event, he spoke about his upcoming film, King. “I’m not just shooting it here; I’ll be shooting in Mumbai when I go back in a couple of months. My director, Siddharth Anand, who made Pathaan, is very strict. He told me, 'Don’t reveal anything about the film or what you're doing in it.' So I can’t share much, but I can assure you that it will entertain you, and you’ll have a great time.”

Regarding the film's title, Shah Rukh said, "I've used many titles...Now we have run out of titles...Now, Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan in King. That was a bit of a show-off."

About King

King was initially set to be directed by Sujoy Ghosh, who also wrote the story. However, it was revealed late last year that Siddharth Anand, the director of Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback film Pathaan, would be taking over the helm. Shah Rukh has been filming his parts since last year. The film is said to also feature his daughter, Suhana Khan, alongside Abhishek Bachchan. As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding the cast or the release date.
