Actor Shabana Azmi has expressed that she considers herself to be more privileged than her husband, writer Javed Akhtar. In a conversation with Filmfare, Shabana recounted a remark made by a friend of Javed's, who stated that while she represents "Ankur," he embodies "Sholay." She also mentioned that she has come to terms with the differences between herself and Javed Akhtar.

What Javed's friend advised Shabana about him

Shabana recounted the advice she received from Javed's friend regarding him. She remarked, “During our time at the Khandala house, I envisioned it as a weekend retreat. I was unaware that he considered it a mansion. Consequently, we found ourselves in daily conflicts. His closest friend, Farhan Mujib, once told me, 'Look, Shabana, a home realizes a person's dreams. This man has experienced homelessness, having slept on the streets. Therefore, this is his dream.'"

Shabana talks about her realisation

"You have experienced a life of great comfort, one that you may not fully comprehend. Remember, you are Ankur, while he represents Sholay." I found that observation to be quite fitting. In all our endeavors, I embody Ankur, and he embodies Sholay. I have ultimately accepted this reality. There is nothing I can change about it," Shabana remarked.

About Shabana and Javed

Shabana and Javed were married in 1984. It is said that the renowned writer first encountered Shabana at the residence of her father, the esteemed poet Kaifi Azmi. Prior to this marriage, Javed was wed to Honey Irani and has two children, Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar, from that union.

Shabana's most recent appearance was in the web series Dabba Cartel. She is set to appear next in Rajkumar Santoshi's Lahore 1947, featuring alongside Sunny Deol, Ali Fazal, and others.
