Shaan Exposes Reality Behind Singing Shows: Performances Re-Recorded in Studio

Playback singer Shaan, famous for his hit tracks such as Woh Ladki Hai Kahan, Kuch To Hua Hai, and Main Aisa Kyun Hoon, has been a judge on various reality shows like The Voice India and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs. Recently, in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, he dropped a surprising bombshell about the production of singing reality shows.

Shaan discusses the process of filming reality shows

When asked why singers from reality shows often struggle to break into the music industry despite their amazing voices, Shaan shared his thoughts: "I’m not just told this; I truly believe it. I know for sure that they are re-dubbing the songs. Back when I participated in reality shows until 2018, what you heard was pretty much the real deal. They would tweak the tuning a bit, but now the entire song is completely re-dubbed. So when you listen to it, you’re blown away and think, ‘Wow!’ Your expectations soar. But when you actually ask them to sing live, it can be a huge letdown."

He continued, "What they perform on stage is just a one-time thing, but then they take that audio to the studio and have them sing it again. This practice has been around for a few years now. They also fix and correct it, so when the audience listens, everything that’s out of tune gets leveled out. How is that even fair? They are singing to some extent — some are better than others, and that’s what gets the reactions. I had a few disagreements when these practices were first being implemented," he added.

Shaan's latest track

Shaan just contributed his vocals to a track in Salman Khan's new movie, Sikandar. He teamed up with Dev Nagi to sing Bam Bam Bhole, with lyrics crafted by Sameer Anjaan. The rap parts were penned and performed by Shaikhspeare, Y-Ash, and Husxain, while the music was composed by Pritam.
