Selena Gomez, who encountered significant criticism for posting an emotional video addressing President Donald Trump's mass deportation initiatives, has seen a decline of more than 700,000 followers on social media in the last month.

Earlier this week, Gomez expressed her concerns regarding the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which led to 956 arrests of undocumented immigrants in the United States, as reported by the BBC.

Data from Social Blade indicates that Gomez's Instagram following has decreased by 715,000 over the past 30 days.

Gomez bashed for now-deleted video

In her video, Gomez expressed her distress, stating, “I’m deeply sorry. My community is under attack. The children. I cannot comprehend this situation. I sincerely apologize. I wish I could take action, but I feel powerless. I am uncertain about the appropriate steps to take. I will exhaust all options, I assure you,” accompanied by an emoji of the Mexican flag.

Subsequently, she removed the video, commenting, “It seems that showing empathy for others is not acceptable.”

In response to Gomez's video, one critic pointed out that she possesses the means and platform to make a difference.

“Girl, you have the resources to accomplish a great deal. You could support legal services, translation services, provide ongoing funding for mutual aid programs, engage in direct actions that disrupt raids, and assist with immigration programs that help these individuals,” one individual remarked.

“This is utterly disappointing. Why not help them enter through the proper channels?” another commenter stated.

“Is Selena Gomez of Mexican descent?” inquired a third user.

White House, Megyn Kelly to react to Gomez's emotional video

The White House has published a video entitled “Moms of Victims of Illegal Aliens SLAM Selena Gomez: You Didn't Cry for Our Daughters.”

Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly characterized Gomez as a “sick and unwell” individual. She stated, “Furthermore, anyone who records themselves crying into their phone and shares that video is exhibiting signs of illness. That is a disturbed person.”

Despite a decrease in her follower count, Gomez continues to have a substantial presence on the social media platform, boasting 422 million followers.
