Actor Sara Ali Khan has disclosed that she cannot make extravagant purchases without the approval of her mother, Amrita Singh. Notably, Sara's GPay account is connected to her mother's phone, allowing Amrita to monitor her daughter's spending habits.

During a discussion at the Times Now Summit 2025, Sara humorously admitted that she requires her mother's consent even for booking a ticket.

She stated, “I am conscious and considerate about my expenditures. I do not take pleasure in spending money carelessly. However, I do believe in treating myself occasionally. I have a passion for travel, so I save for that purpose. I do not own a Hermes bag; my mother does, and I borrow it from her. I prioritize practicality in my purchases. One day, I hope to own a Chanel bag. But if you find comfort in Zara, that is perfectly fine too!”

Discussing her financial management, Sara revealed, “I have come to understand that small investments in various areas are important. My mother manages all my finances. Even my GPay account is linked to her, and my OTPs are sent to her phone. I cannot even book a ticket without her assistance. I often ask, 'Mumma, can I get the OTP?' She is always aware of my whereabouts. Any minor discrepancies are often exposed by social media; Instagram has made that clear.”

Sara, the daughter of Amrita and her former husband, Saif Ali Khan, made her acting debut in the 2018 film Kedarnath, alongside the late Sushant Singh Rajput. She has since appeared in several films, including Simmba, directed by Rohit Shetty; Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali; and Coolie No 1, directed by David Dhawan. Her most recent project was Sky Force.

Next, she will star in Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino, which also stars Anupam Kher, Konkana Sen, Neena Gupta, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Sheikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aditya Roy Kapur in key roles. The anthology film is scheduled for release in theaters on July 4 this year.
