Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a prominent figure in Indian cinema, is renowned for his successful romantic films such as Devdas, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, and Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, among others. Despite his cinematic achievements, Bhansali's personal experiences with love have not been as fulfilling. In a past interview with Simi Garewal on her program Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, he shared insights on how love has influenced his life.

Bhansali expressed that he harbors no expectations of others, as he is not well-acquainted with many individuals, apart from his mother. He conveyed a sense of discomfort and restlessness in social situations, indicating a preference for solitude. When questioned about his reluctance to connect with others, he acknowledged his attempts but noted that they did not yield positive outcomes.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's love life

Regarding his romantic inclinations, Bhansali reflected on the paradox of being a romantic filmmaker while lacking romance in his personal life. He stated, "It is the absence of romance in my life that drives me to strive for excellence in the romantic narratives I create. I seek to experience through my work what I have not encountered in reality. This is where the enchantment lies, transforming my art into a source of joy rather than a burden."

When Simi inquired if there was anyone for whom he had once lit a diya, Bhansali smiled and took a moment before acknowledging that he had indeed done so in the past. However, he emphasized that this is no longer significant to him, stating, "I have come to appreciate life itself more than the love for a single individual. It is no longer essential for me to focus my affection on just one person. This realization has profoundly changed me; it has not rendered me bitter but rather instilled a sense of anger and awareness. I recognize that I do not need to connect with others, and I find happiness in that." When asked if he could continue in this manner, he confidently replied, "I believe so. I have managed this for 38 years, and I anticipate doing so for another 38."

In addition, he has announced the renewal of his series Heeramandi for a second season, which includes performances by Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, among others.

The director, who marked his 62nd birthday on February 24, was observed celebrating the occasion with the cast of Love & War. Alia Bhatt also posted images from the celebration on Instagram, stating, "A quick break from night shoots to celebrate our director. Happy birthday, magician sir (and happy 3 to our Gangu too) & lastly, many cheers and claps for @vickykaushal09 absolutely smashing the box office with Chhaava!!!
